Almost Famous

The only true currency, in this bankrupt world, is what we share with someone else, when we’re uncool.
I cannot tell you what an amazing film Almost Famous is. You’ve got to see it, I swear. I wonder why I missed it for so long. It must have been the cover, I guess.
Yes it’s poetry. It’s the poetry of drugs and promiscuous sex. Look at the picture on the cover, they’re on pot.
And yes, it’s got some great lines, like the one above, throughout the film. Here’s the one I absolutely loved:
You will get free records from the record company. And they’ll buy you drinks, you’ll meet girls, they’ll try to fly you places for free, offer you drugs… I know. It sounds great. But, they are not your friends. These are the people who want you to write sanctimonious stories about the genius of the rock stars, and they will ruin rock and roll and strangle everything we love about it.
That was 1973. Isn’t it a phenomenon now?
Strangely I have never seen that cover before. No wonder you were put off. I’ve always associated the movie with this cover which in fact is quite cool.

May 14, 07 at 06:15Do pick up stuff from “Terrance Malik” if you like haunting visuals.
1. Days of heaven is lyrical
2. Thin red line - although slow - it tries to show how frustratingly slow “to be” in the war is.
Other directors you might like are coen brothers. You got to start with Man who was not there, and then you will end up watching everything.(fargo, millers crossing etc).
Now that I have time I need to dump other few good movies which I saw thanks to Prakasha.
1. (trilogy). It is the director - Krzysztof Kieslowski

Govind: Thanks for those links, recommended movies are always worth viewing. So, let me see if I can get those somewhere.
